i started my career coloring comics in-house for wildstorm/DC comics in la jolla CA in 2000, i answered phones there, etc. for 6 1/2 years until I got good enough to draw comics full-time. great place great people 👍
I left the studio in 2007 after years of practicing more mainstream art (not what came naturally! ), and was able to freelance full-time from then on, mostly for DC comics a little for Marvel and other companies.
some of the projects I worked on were Friday the 13th, ratchet and clank, Batman beyond, Scribblenauts, rocket raccoon, Gotham Academy, TMNT etc.
but my tastes have always been more indie, and i always felt like a square peg in a round hole, so when job opportunities became more scarce, I also stopped actively pursuing them and pivoted.
in 2017, I started working hard to try and make a career self-pubing my own characters and stories. Definitely a challenge😄 I did and still do character design as much as I can on the side, and i do commissions in order to make this career path work.
most of my books are here on my site now for download, and I'm putting more up each month. This website has helped tremendously as another source of revenue for maintaining this life. Using social media, which is free to drive people to a place where they can support you and your work is crucial. The serious fans will go to your site and see what's new as long as you updated often, provide good information and material and show that it's alive, and a priority in your career. These are really important, but the discipline can be difficult to maintain when there is little or no traffic. Like different parts and all of our careers, it's something we have to push through . I appreciate the support over the years guys, have a great day ❤️🤘🔥
