started a comic strip a few weeks ago. Little fellah named Edgar. I created him christmas day 2023. (I date most of my sketch pages).
originally, it was going to be a comic. a graphic novella. but i've become re-enamored with comic strips the last few years and see them not only as a great medium, but one that translates beautifully to today's world. Self contained, quickly readable/ expressed pieces of art. Easily approached by an audience at any time and point.

The black and white nature of the strip and his unique personality and voice put some distance between him and my other little dude, machine gun beetle. So for me, they scratch different itches and might speak to slightly different audiences.

i have 54 of edgars comic strips penciled as of this post, and after 100, i have a publisher in mind I'll approach and see if they're interested.

Self publishing is going to be a big part of my life i think the rest of my career, but i'm not selling the number of books i need to make a living. going back to my roots, working with a publisher again for a while could help reach more. That, along with the repostability of comic strips as quick visual snacks in todays fast scrolling world, i think he and i have a chance to build something . thx for reading. have a great day people.
